Ribes rubrum Zitavia

Height: 0,3–0,4 m

The white currant 'Zitavia' is a fast-growing shrub that reaches a height of 1-1.5 m and a width of 1.2 m. The leaves are broad, green, with 3-5 lobes and toothed edges. It begins flowering in April, and bees love to visit its tiny greenish flowers. Its large, round, yellowish-white fruit ripens from early July. The juicy, sweet-and-sour, mildly aromatic fruit is perfect for eating fresh, or as jam or even syrup. It likes a sunny or partially shaded spot and slightly well-structured soil rich in nutrients. It does not like direct sun. Its water needs are moderate, but adequate water supply is important during fruit development.
